Integrity NYC Metro to March in St. Pat's For All Parade in Queens

Integrity NYC-Metro is pleased to announce we will once again be participating in the St. Pat's for All Parade in Queens on Sunday, March 4th.

Founded in 2000, St. Pat's for All is an inclusive celebration that welcomes people of many ages and ethnic backgrounds. It was founded in response to a conflict regarding LGBT groups being banned from the better-known parade in Manhattan.

This year's theme is "cherishing all the children of the nation equally" and -- fittingly -- the parade will be led by a contingent of young people.  The principal honorees are the political historian and novelist Peter Quinn, author of the now-available book The Man Who Never Returned; and Mary Brosnahan, Executive Director of The Coalition for the Homeless. Mary was named by the New York Post this past year one of the “Fifty Most Powerful Women in New York.” Terry Golway of The New York Observer noted that if “compassion were an industry in New York, Ms. Brosnahan would be its chief executive officer.”

Individuals, congregations and others are invited to march with Integrity NYC-Metro. Participation is free, but any contribution to offset the cost of participating will be appreciated.

Break the Silence Concert

On Sunday, February 20th, Intersections International presents a spectacular concert to benefit Believe Out Loud, the multi-denominational revolution of welcome that's sparking new ways of thinking in churches across the country.

Join us for Break the Silence, an afternoon of spectacular music and celebration featuring the Anna Crusis Women’s Choir of Philadelphia, the New York City Gay Men’s Chorus and the Lavender Light Gospel Choir at the beautiful Marble Collegiate Church in New York City. Proceeds benefit the Believe Out Loud project, a collaboration of Intersections International, the National Gay & Lesbian Task Force's Institute of Welcoming Resources, and twelve Christian denominations. Within the Episcopal Church, Integrity and the various OASIS diocesan LGBT outreach programs, along with TransEpiscopal, are working with congregations to promote inclusion. Tickets are $20.00 in advance; $15.00 for groups of five or more; and $25.00 at the door.

"We Will Not Be Silent" Community Rally

Two transwomen were brutally attacked on the streets of Queens.

Leslie Mora was attacked on June 19th in Jackson Heights and beaten with belt buckles- suffering wounds in her scalp and legs.

Carmella Etienne is attacked on July 8th in St Albans with rocks and bottles & suffers a major gash in her leg. Attackers threatened to slash her throat.

We speak out against discrimination & violent attacks towards our transgender sisters and brothers.

We unite in building communities of tolerance & inclusion.

We work for the passage of GENDA in NY State.

We extend solidarity, care & compassion for victims of transphobic hate crimes.

Rally for Marriage Equality

Come show your support for equality, meet up with fellow Queens citizens, enjoy music from Broadway stars, and hear from government officials and members of our community who support marriage equality. Performers at the rally have appeared in: Rent, Mamma Mia, Jersey Boys, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Flower Drum Song, The King and I, Spelling Bee, Good Vibrations, and Mary Poppins, and on the television shows Guiding Light and Hi-5.

State Senator George Onorato (D), who represents much of Western Queens, currently publically opposes marriage equality but this rally in support of equality has a chance to help change his mind. Queens Senators Huntley (D), Addabbo (D) Padavan (R) also currently oppose marriage equality. We need to change their minds.

iNYC Gay Pride Contingency Request

Integrity NYC is registered to march in NYC Gay Pride 2009. Newark's OASIS will be joining the contingency and marching with iNYC!

If your parish is not registered, you are welcome to join us! You can march with us even if you are from an outer borough or NJ, as iNYC is not bound by Diocesan lines.

LINEUP: 11:30. We will probably kick off around 12:30 or 1 o'clock if they keep to the schedule.

St. Luke in the Fields is organizing a Eucharist at the meeting place for all who wish to participate. They will also have a vehicle for those with trouble walking.

I SUGGEST you bring Sunscreen. We will have a Bathroom pass that can be used to step out of the parade and get back in.

Doing the Lambeth Walk

Brenda Harrison, Lambeth Administrator for Inclusive Church, and Lambeth Administrator for Changing Attitude will be in New York on Tuesday, June 3rd to give us an update on planning for the inclusive presence and specifically the LGBT presence Lambeth. She will also speak to the importance of hearing voices from Africa and other non western Provinces, and anything else that might be of interest.

She would also welcome the chance to hear our thoughts on Lambeth in general.

Location is at the Church of the Ascension.

The parish's regularly scheduled mid-week Eucharist is at 6pm, Brenda's talk will follow at around 645pm (ish!)

Tea With Susan Russell

The Reverend Susan Russell, President of Integrity USA will be in New York at the Desmond Tutu Center near General Seminary for a conference on the proposed Anglican Covenant. She will also be spending some time with us on Saturday, April 12 from 4pm – 6pm to talk about Integrity's witness at the Lambeth Conference as well as her thoughts on the conference at the Tutu Center. In conjunction with this, we are participating in Integrity's Canterbury Campaign and will be accepting donations to support our witness at Lambeth.

Church Crawl

iNYC is proud to announce our first Parish Crawl which is taking place in Manhattan on Sunday, March 9, 2008. We will be visiting the Church of the Ascension for their 11am service and Grace Church for their 6pm service. Itinerary for the day is as follows

11am Principal Service, Church of the Ascension: Fifth Avenue at 10th Street, Holy Eucharist at Main Altar, with full choir and sermon

12pm Coffee Hour, Church of the Ascension. This is our chance to mingle with parishioners of Ascension and spread the Good News of God’s inclusive love for GLBT Christians in the Episcopal Church and to talk about iNYC.

1pm-ish .. Brunch on our own + free time

6pm Evening Service, Grace Church in New York: 10th Street and Broadway, Holy Eucharist in the Chantry, with sermon.

7pm Wine and Cheese Reception, Grace Church in New York.
